The S5 Safety Wellington Boots combine the familiar appearance of traditional wellingtons with enhanced protection for demanding working environments.
Specially designed for workplaces where liquid resistance and protection against sharp underfoot hazards are essential, these safety wellingtons feature a durable blend of PVC and nitrile rubber, 200-joule steel toe caps and a penetration-resistant steel midsole.
Their high-grade PVC/nitrile construction provides a practical barrier against water and other suitable liquids, making them particularly useful in wet and dirty working conditions.
The boots also feature anti-static, energy-absorbing soles designed to provide comfort, strength and durability, with stated slip resistance for everyday workplace use.
Additional sole properties include resistance to oils, acids, alkalis and heat up to 180°C, subject to the relevant exposure conditions and manufacturer specifications.
The easy-clean treated surface helps make routine maintenance straightforward, particularly in environments where footwear regularly comes into contact with mud, dirt or workplace contaminants.

High-Grade PVC & Nitrile Rubber Construction
These S5 Safety Wellington Boots are manufactured using a high-grade blend of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and nitrile rubber.
This combination is designed to provide durability and resistance to suitable liquids in challenging workplace conditions.
Unlike ordinary work boots with leather or fabric uppers, safety wellingtons offer a protective boot construction suited to environments where contact with water, mud and other liquids is common.
The PVC/nitrile material also provides a practical outer surface that can be cleaned after use.
Designed for Wet Working Environments
The S5 Safety Wellies are particularly useful where footwear needs to resist liquid penetration.
Their wellington-style construction makes them suitable for appropriately assessed activities involving:
-
Wet ground
-
Muddy work areas
-
Routine washdown environments
-
General outdoor maintenance
-
Suitable industrial cleaning tasks
-
Agricultural and construction work
The S5 classification includes requirements for resistance to water penetration in the complete footwear.
Important: Liquid resistance does not mean the boots are suitable for every chemical or hazardous substance. Chemical compatibility must be checked separately.
200-Joule Steel Toe Cap Protection
The boots feature steel toe caps rated to 200 joules.
These protective toe caps are designed to reduce the risk of injury from specified impact and compression hazards.
Steel toe protection is particularly useful in environments where heavy equipment, tools and materials are regularly handled.
The 200-joule toe cap is a fundamental feature of safety footwear conforming to EN ISO 20345.
Important: Steel toe caps reduce specified risks but do not make footwear completely crush-proof.
Steel Midsole for Penetration Resistance
The S5 Steel Toe Wellington Boots incorporate a protective steel midsole.
This is designed to help prevent certain sharp objects from penetrating through the sole and reaching the foot.
A steel midsole is especially useful in workplaces where underfoot hazards may include sharp debris, nails or similar objects.
The combination of toe protection and penetration resistance makes these boots suitable for a range of demanding industrial and outdoor applications.
Important: Penetration resistance is tested under specified conditions and does not guarantee protection against every sharp object.
Anti-Static Sole Properties
The safety wellingtons feature stated anti-static properties.
Anti-static footwear is designed to help dissipate electrostatic charge under specified conditions.
This may be relevant in workplaces where electrostatic build-up needs to be controlled.
Important: Anti-static footwear is not electrically insulating footwear and must not be relied upon for protection against electric shock from live electrical equipment.
Energy-Absorbing Heel for Comfort
The boots incorporate energy-absorbing sole construction to help reduce impact transmitted through the heel during walking.
This feature contributes to everyday comfort, particularly for workers who spend extended periods standing or moving around wet or uneven work areas.
The sole construction is also designed to provide strength and durability for regular workplace use.
Slip-Resistant Sole Design
The S5 Safety Wellington Boots feature soles described as slip resistant.
This is particularly useful in workplaces where floors or ground surfaces may become wet or contaminated.
However, slip resistance varies depending on the surface, the type of contamination and the condition of the sole.
Important: No separate slip-resistance test marking has been supplied. Check the manufacturer's full product markings to confirm suitability for specific slip hazards.
Resistant to Selected Chemicals & Oils
The PVC/nitrile material is described as resistant to ISO 6112 chemicals and oils.
This makes the boots relevant to certain workplaces where contact with oils and suitable chemical substances may occur.
However, chemical resistance depends on several factors, including:
-
The exact substance involved
-
Chemical concentration
-
Temperature
-
Contact duration
-
Condition of the boot material
Important: The supplied reference to ISO 6112 does not identify the individual chemicals or tested resistance levels. Confirm the manufacturer's chemical compatibility information before using these boots around hazardous substances.
Oil, Acid & Alkali Resistant Soles
The soles are described as resistant to:
-
Oil
-
Acids
-
Alkalis
These properties can be useful in certain industrial, agricultural and maintenance environments.
However, the level of resistance may vary between substances.
Do not assume the boots provide universal chemical protection or that resistance of the sole automatically establishes resistance of every boot component.
Heat-Resistant Soles up to 180°C
The safety wellingtons have a stated sole heat resistance of 180°C.
This may be useful in workplaces where occasional contact with hot surfaces is a potential hazard.
However, the temperature rating should not be interpreted as protection for the entire boot or as permission for prolonged exposure to hot surfaces.
Important: S5 classification alone does not establish separate HRO contact-heat certification. Confirm the full product markings and manufacturer's test information before use in environments involving hot surfaces.
Easy-Clean Treated Surface
The boots feature a treated outer surface designed to make cleaning easier.
This is particularly useful for workers who regularly encounter mud, dirt and other workplace contaminants.
The smooth, treated construction allows routine dirt to be removed more conveniently after use.
Regular cleaning also helps make it easier to inspect the boots for damage and deterioration.
Ideal for Construction, Agriculture & Industrial Work
The S5 PVC/Nitrile Safety Wellington Boots are designed for workplaces where wet conditions and mechanical foot hazards may occur together.
Typical applications include:
-
Construction sites
-
Agricultural work
-
Outdoor maintenance
-
Industrial cleaning
-
General site operations
-
Civil engineering
-
Groundworks
-
Warehousing with wet working conditions
-
Suitable manufacturing environments
-
General industrial maintenance
The boots should always be selected according to the hazards identified in the workplace risk assessment.
For specialist chemical handling, electrical hazards or extreme temperatures, additional footwear certification may be required.
EN 20345 S5 Safety Classification
These protective wellington boots are specified as conforming to EN 20345 S5.
The traditional S5 safety footwear classification includes:
-
200-joule protective toe caps
-
Anti-static properties
-
Energy absorption in the heel region
-
Resistance to water penetration
-
Penetration-resistant insert
-
Cleated outsole
These features make S5 footwear particularly relevant to wet working environments where mechanical foot protection is also required.
EN ISO 20345 has been revised over time, and newer editions use updated marking requirements.
Important: Check the exact edition of the standard and the manufacturer's current declaration of conformity. The S5 designation alone does not establish separate certification for every claimed chemical, heat or slip-resistance property.
Care & Maintenance
To help maintain the condition and protective performance of the S5 Safety Wellington Boots:
-
Rinse or wipe away loose mud and dirt after use.
-
Clean the treated outer surface using a suitable cleaning method.
-
Avoid cleaning agents that may damage the PVC/nitrile material.
-
Allow the boots to dry naturally, away from direct heat.
-
Inspect the uppers for cracks, splits or punctures.
-
Check the soles for excessive wear or damage.
-
Examine the toe area after any significant impact.
-
Replace the boots if the protective structure may have been compromised.
-
Follow the manufacturer's care and chemical decontamination instructions.
Important: Damaged safety wellingtons should not be used where liquid resistance or protective footwear performance is required.
