High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Construction
The Scan Industrial Safety Helmet is manufactured from high-density polyethylene, commonly known as HDPE.
HDPE is widely used in industrial safety helmets because it offers a practical combination of strength, durability and low weight.
The helmet's protective shell is designed to help absorb and distribute impact forces under the conditions covered by its applicable safety standard.
This makes it suitable for appropriately assessed work environments where head protection is required.
Benefits of HDPE Construction
-
Durable protective shell
-
Lightweight material
-
Practical for regular workplace use
-
Suitable for industrial helmet applications
-
Designed to withstand relevant standardised impact tests
Important: No safety helmet can protect against every impact. The helmet must be correctly fitted, maintained and used within the limits of its certification.
Protection Against Falling Objects
Head protection is an essential part of workplace safety on construction sites and in industrial environments.
The Scan HDPE Safety Helmet is designed to help protect against injuries caused by falling objects.
Potential hazards include:
-
Falling tools
-
Dropped materials
-
Objects dislodged during construction work
-
Accidental impacts in industrial environments
The helmet also provides protection against certain impacts with fixed obstacles, such as beams, structures and overhead equipment.
Its suitability must always be determined by the hazards identified in the workplace risk assessment.
Lightweight 340g Design
Weighing approximately 340g, the Scan Industrial Safety Helmet offers a lightweight option for workers who need to wear head protection throughout the working day.
A lighter helmet can help reduce the burden associated with prolonged wear.
This makes it practical for:
-
Construction site personnel
-
Builders and tradespeople
-
Maintenance engineers
-
Warehouse and industrial workers
-
Site supervisors
-
Outdoor maintenance teams
Comfort also depends on correct adjustment and compatibility with any other required protective equipment.
Adjustable Head Size – 530mm to 630mm
The Scan Adjustable Safety Helmet features a head fitting system designed to accommodate circumferences from 530mm to 630mm.
This is equivalent to approximately 53cm to 63cm.
The adjustable fit allows users to position the helmet securely and comfortably.
Why Correct Helmet Fit Matters
A properly adjusted safety helmet helps:
-
Keep the helmet correctly positioned
-
Reduce unwanted movement
-
Improve comfort during use
-
Maintain the intended protective positioning of the shell
The helmet should sit securely without excessive tightness.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when adjusting the fitting system.
Integrated Rain Gutter
A practical feature of the Scan Industrial Hard Hat is its integrated rain gutter.
The gutter is designed to channel rainwater away from the helmet and face.
This can be particularly useful for workers carrying out tasks outdoors in wet weather.
Benefits of the Rain Gutter
-
Helps divert rainwater away from the face
-
Practical for outdoor construction work
-
Useful during wet weather
-
Supports comfort in changing working conditions
The rain gutter does not make the wearer fully weatherproof, but it provides a useful feature for everyday site work.
Suitable for Construction & Industrial Work
The Scan Industrial Safety Helmet is designed for a range of workplaces where protective headwear is required.
Potential applications include:
-
Building and construction sites
-
General contracting
-
Property maintenance
-
Industrial facilities
-
Warehouses with overhead impact hazards
-
Civil engineering projects
-
Outdoor site inspections
-
Site supervision
-
General trade work
-
Maintenance and repair activities
The appropriate helmet type should always be selected according to the workplace risk assessment.
Important: No additional certifications for electrical insulation, molten metal protection or extreme-temperature performance have been supplied.
EN397 Industrial Safety Helmet Standard
The Scan Industrial Safety Helmet is specified as conforming to EN397:1995+A1:2000.
EN397 is the European standard covering industrial safety helmets.
It includes requirements and test methods relating to essential protective performance, including:
-
Shock absorption
-
Resistance to penetration
-
Retention system performance
-
Relevant construction and design requirements
-
Product markings and information
The supplied specification refers to an older edition of EN397. For current workplace compliance, check the manufacturer's latest declaration of conformity and product markings.
Important: EN397 conformity does not automatically establish protection against every possible head hazard. Optional performance claims, such as electrical insulation or molten metal resistance, require separate confirmation.
How to Fit the Scan Industrial Safety Helmet
Correct fitting is essential for effective head protection.
-
Inspect the helmet shell and internal fitting system before use.
-
Check for cracks, deformation or other visible damage.
-
Place the helmet on your head in the intended orientation.
-
Adjust the fitting system to suit your head circumference.
-
Ensure the helmet sits securely and comfortably.
-
Check that it does not move excessively during normal head movement.
-
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for any compatible accessories.
Do not modify the helmet or drill holes in the shell.
Only use accessories approved as compatible with the specific helmet model.
Helmet Inspection & Maintenance
To help maintain the condition of the Scan Safety Helmet:
-
Inspect the shell and fittings before each use.
-
Check for cracks, dents, deformation or deterioration.
-
Keep the helmet clean according to the manufacturer's instructions.
-
Avoid exposure to chemicals that may damage HDPE.
-
Store away from excessive heat and direct sunlight when not in use.
-
Do not paint or apply adhesives unless approved by the manufacturer.
-
Replace the helmet following a significant impact, even if no damage is visible.
-
Follow the manufacturer's service-life and replacement guidance.
The helmet's usable life depends on its condition, storage, exposure and the manufacturer's instructions.
